I intend to make significant change and growth in the global marketplace and beyond by raising business and consumer standards of conduct with regards to the environment, professionally and personally, for the greater benefit of the earth and all of it's citizens. It is to that end that I'm working to help develop and promote such green ventures as LightningInABottle.org, to fuse the latest Web 2.0 technologies with both modern and tribal conscious, eco-green principles to educate, enlighten and entertain the widest audience possible. Carpool and rideshare when in LA and elsewhere, and carbon offset any conventional travel used; run my companies websites with 100% solar powered hosting, work from home, fly once a year or less (and at the very least, offset any such travel); recycle, use less, and reuse almost everything I do consume (ex: will use the same tea bag 2-3 times, boil only enough water for the tea I'm brewing to conserve water and to minimize energy consumption); unplug phone chargers and other ac adapters when not in use; stage lighting strategically to minimize excessive power waste; "If it's pee let it be, if it's brown flush it down" -yes it's gross but toilets as most know by now, waste an obscene amount of water. Other ways include: composting, buying sustainable products, use of eco-friendly cleaners, buy local, organic foods, and much more. In regards to my internet fabric business, we apply many of these same principles and are taking more and more steps to green its operations. We currently recycle, reuse and donate nearly all of our waste: recyclables, cardboard, etc. to the local homeless - all of our printer cartridges are stored in-house until they get returned for refills or recycling to the manufacturer. We also share our warehouse with another company The Do Lab, who we offset our warehouse's total consumption of energy with. Reading and researching more philosophies, theories, news items, and any other related sources I can find that deal with all the various aspects of sustainability. |
