What about electronic waste?

I know this is a huge issue of environmental waste. What can be done about getting electronics companies (those who produce these items), to contribute to the safe disposal, and/or recycling of these mass amounts of items?

Hi Beth-

On a local level you can try contacting Jim Crater through the Pottstown Recycling Center: http://www.recyclingservices.org/index.asp

For anyone else, you'd just have to do a search online in your area using various keyword terms such as: electronic recycling, computer donations, and second hand shops like Goodwill or The Salvation Army. There is also a growing industry in recycling / waste collection with such companies as Ecohaul and iReuse that given enough time, could likely reach a national level of servicing.
